Rookie Rockhounding
Australia
Приєднався 6 тра 2009
As a rock lover, I love seeing what other rock lovers have to share, and also share my learning journey through rock hunting for any other beginners. Not only that, but as a rookie, I’m eager to find out as much as I can from fellow rock hounds. I hope that through this channel I can share the joy of rock hounding as well as learn from others in basic lapidary things. Happy rock times to all.
Agate Hunting Downriver: You Won’t Believe What’s Left Behind
Join us an Agate Adventure in our kayaks as we journey down river looking for Agates, Chalcedony and Green Jasper from our Kayaks on a creek in Northern NSW Australia where the agates get better downstream.

Cutting Rocks: A Deeper Look at DIY Lapidary
Переглядів 16 тис.3 місяці тому
I love cutting rocks, but sometimes, theres highs and others theres lows. We're cutting (self collected), rocks I was too scared to cut and rocks that are too big for my tile saw. Whats inside is up to nature and already set in stone. Way to go! Shout out to the successful improvisation!I hope to share this video with anyone who has a desire to polish, but not the cash!
Thank you Debbie!!!! ❤️
Perfect of nature
Is my favorite channel back on the regular?!!
Haha aw! I’m not sure but I’m posting almost every month. But by in the next few months I’ll be back to a regular schedule and able to do more
So great to see you guys out and about again Keep them coming and stay safe
😂I love it!
Found some nice 👍 ones
nice nice!!!! but why is pauly not out there with you jesse?
Oh I know right! He’s just been busy and he’s into his other hobby and being a grandad the last couple years. He’s one of my favourite people on the planet and he’ll be back out one day. It’s just an eb and flow of things but I’ll let him know someones asked about him 😁
I just learned that you were back! It is very good to hear and see you again. You definitely have a different energy and spirit all of which in a good way. I appreciate when you say things like the rock determines how it’s cut so not to worry about cutting, it hit home.
Oh no way that’s so cool! Yeah I’m back, but still not as much as I’d like to be yet but soon 🤞🤪
DUDE, That's sic bro!
Rookie, you're my favorite six-year old. Great video ! Keep them coming, please !
Love watching you hunt 👍🏼🔥
Gorgeous pieces. Thanks for the video.
i think many of those are effigies.
Dude, that’s siiick!
I'm not saying I know anything about you, im just speaking from hearing what you said about leaving the rocks to tumble and from what I've been dealing with for the last year and a half or so. Depression is tough. It's a long bumpy road we go down. Losing your passions is even harder. Rock hounding/ polishing, wood work, leather work, metal work / forging, gaming, video editing, fishing, hiking..... I've lost a lot of passions, seemingly all at once. It's tough bro. But thank you for coming back and making me smile. I hope all is well or all will be well. Much love mate
Brother! Yes! I absolutely hear you hey, it’s so tough when you know your passions but they and almost nothing can give you that buzz that they used to hey. But it comes back I promise!!!! Thanks for you comment mate and I hope soon you’ll see the other side with a big ol smile on your face!
Bro I just realized your back!!!! This legit made my day! I'm so friggin happy ro see you mate
Lucky you!❤❤❤
I love how everyone has so much appreciation for the rocks as you!! No one around me likes rocks as much as I do 😅😂
Good to see your smiling face again sir!! 😊 Howdy from Eastern Oklahoma! 😊🤓
This is freakin brilliant!😂 You’re the best, Jesse/Dude!
Thank you, fun hunt.
Aqui acompanhando o garimpo de vocês sucessos 😮😮❤❤🙏👍
Hahahaha 😂
Dude, you find so many sick rocks that there's really no other way to talk about it! Keep doing what you're doing, bro! 😆
😂😂😂
I absolutely love it! So freaking funny! And that you plotted it on a graph, makes it all legit! Love it dude! I mean bro! 😆
I mean man 🤣😂
Dude... sick! 😋 The haters, not so much so...
As a math teacher who loves rocks, I’m impressed with your data collection and analysis technique. ❤ I’m going to share this video with my students, they can learn from this. 👍
Hahaha! I love this! 🤣
This freaking cracks me up brother! hahahaha You're so funny. Enjoying the fresh content sir. Wishing you and your friends all the best!
Haha thanks Shaughn my good sir! I hope you are keeping well dude!!!!!!
@@Rookie_Rockounding Dude! You have no idea~ hahaha Just cannot get myself to edit anything. 🤔🤦♂🤣 Rock on amigo!
As a Southern Californian I can attest that this math works out sick Dude, sick. 💖🪨
Guess who else is a so cal baby? Me! Born in Fullerton 🤪 but shipped off to stralia when I was 5. So I’m gonna say the “dude” is probably in my blood 😂🇺🇸
@@Rookie_Rockounding that's SICK! I did not know that, but it alllllllll makes sense now, you're one of us.... **quietly chants** one of us... one of us... lol 💖💕
thats why i mentioned his posse i have been pulling his leg for years about him being Jesse James lol. He also has a brother but he is not called Frank..
I’m a 55 yo woman and have a small collection of ‘pee pee rocks’ and ones that look like dog poop. 😀 My 20 yo son (who named our Wi-Fi network ‘deez nuts’, mind you) is so embarrassed by me. 🤷🏻♀️
Bahahahaha! Tina I freakin love it! 😆😆😆
You do say dude, sick, rad, and a few other words a lot, but that just makes you, you. I find it funny.
Haha aw thanks Donna 😁
@@Rookie_Rockounding I just love your channel and watching your videos. Just stay being you "dude". LOL
Dude..Sick!!
When I 1st started working as a drum tech, I remember sitting down with a band mate & having a conversation that dude is the perfect all-purpose word...it has been a staple in my vocabulary ever since (along with a few f bombs... 🤭) Love that you charted it all up!!! ❤
Yes! It really is so versatile right! Oh and yeah the f bombs are definitely present too, I just fix that in the edit 😂
@Rookie_Rockounding ...and this is exactly why I love your videos! No pretenses. Just a dude doin' what he loves. (& I have to admit, I am kinda jealous of the amazing rocks you have in your area. Illinois has some neat stuff, but nothing the likes of what you find in abundance.)
You do you because we love you Jesse. If it were me it would be ‘far out’ ‘cool’ ‘holy shot’ bloody brilliant and downhill from there!
Love it Jayne! 🤣
Bro.. I call everyone bro.. or dude.. I work with a bunch of dudes and grew up with only brothers.. so it's expected.. but for real, dude.. its a sick AF video, Bro!! Embrace that shit!!
Hellllllla yes! Dude? Sick Bro fully embraced!
@@Rookie_Rockounding I'd be disappointed if you called me anything other than Dude or Bro.. you can't be a girl doing the work I do and not expect it tbh haha
"A true agate connoisseur." So much better than what we in states would probably say: "rock snob". 😂
Dude!
Right!?
sick vid, dude
Awesome visual, dude!
🤪
Nick is always tossing out good stuff. He only wants the best
Dude right! He’s got good taste where as me, I’m a rock hoarder still haha
Yeah same here. Anything looks good cut. Nick cuts beautiful agates and tosses them in the garden
@user-ef9qd4ef9h haha I know! But he’s always super rad and goes, oi here’s some rocks if you want em 😮🤣
He’s like the John west of fossicking, “it’s the rocks Nick rejects, that makes Nick the best” haha
@@Rookie_Rockounding couldn't say it better.
I'll take his toss pile. LOL
The small and mightiest are some of my favorite. The markings, little internal surprises can be vast. Also you are not going over board. God is the greatest artist that ever was! I sometimes go to the beach and sit for hours looking for agates. One of my daughters asked me how I don't get bored. My reply - I'm greatful to not be using a wheelchair at this time. I know it will be inevitable in the future. So as long as my legs are working, I'll battle through pain to do something i haven't been able to for years. I also told her, while on the beach I think of nothing, not even my art. That I pray alot and listen to everything around me. It's so therapeutic.
Absolutely Cynthia! I think the mental nothingness of being amongst this nature and being able to genuinely appreciate it is probably my favourite thing about looking for pretty rocks
Just love your videos. I would love to go on a rock hounding adventure with you and your mates my husband and I love live rock hounding. Best adventure is being out in nature fining nature's treasures.
Is it dangerous--do people cut their hands by accident?
There’s a bit of a chance to cut your nails on the blade but not really. The blade is made of metal and tiny chunks of diamonds which grind away at the stone instead of “cutting” so when your skin touches the blade it doesn’t hurt. Sometimes I rest a finger on the blade to get a steady cut 😬😬😬
Good to know! I always wondered why people were so casual about it!
@pillaroflight88 haha! Yeah it’s the only saw I’m good to work with 🤣
One mans rubbish is another mans treasure!!
You gotta be a kid at heart. It's the only way to be 😊
I'm out being a 6 yr old myself right now.🙂
Haha let’s go!
